HISTORY
The group was born thanks to the actions and beliefs of its founding father Mr Pierre Meyer, who had strong sustainable values and a strong belief in high quality and aesthetical solutions for offices.
1898 - Creation of SOMETA as a steel works company in Alsace, France
1954 - SOMETA launches the first metallic partition in Europe
1954 – Creation of MATFOR, a company in Champagne, France, that will quickly become a major player in aluminum partition systems
1970s and 80s - MATFOR and SOMETA build a strong reputation in interior fit-out in France and Europe.
1990s - Both MATFOR and SOMETA go through a major industrialisation process including CNC machinery, powder coating lines and computer integrated manufacturing
2000 - Matfor and Augagneur (a French leader in acoustic and decorative system ceilings) join forces to create what will become Saphyr Group in 2004.
2010 - Saphyr Group acquires SOMETA. Through its 3 brands, the group becomes a major player with a global offer (design, manufacturing, project management, and installation) in interior fit out for office and industrial spaces.
2013 - ARYES, a French industrial fund specialised in long-term investment in medium-sized companies, acquires a majority stake in SAPHYR GROUP.
The headquarters are established near Paris, in Levallois Perret.
